Living the Life of Your Dreams
In this workshop, we will ground ourselves and get out of the thinking brain and into the body, and delve deeper into spirit.
Are you ready to find your true life purpose? The path to our goals can seem muddled and overwhelming: fraught with stress, anxiety, and fear. Getting to a quieter place in ourselves can help to illuminate the path. Truly tapping into a mindful, grounded state can wash away stress and anxiety. Befriending fear from a compassionate place is actually a way to “get rid of it.”
Hatha yoga, Kundalini breathwork, and meditation will lift the clouds that keep you feeling stuck and disconnected. When we access this quieter place within ourselves, we have a chance to map out the path to our achieving our dreams. Journaling, somatic embodiment, authentic movement, and group sharing will help fear and anxiety dissipate, eliminate limiting beliefs, and allow your vision and true purpose to emerge. From here, you will be able to develop into your fullest self: inwardly fulfilled and outwardly successful.
By the end of the workshop you will have a practical blueprint for continuing this work at home, and you will have the opportunity to create a support a small, like-minded community committed to the same process.
Elemental Chakra Flow
A yoga and dance workshop designed to bring awareness and balance to the energetic systems of the body that organize our somatic experiences: physically, mentally, and emotionally.
It begins with yoga postures and pranayama to warm and prepare the body, then moves into an elemental mind/body experience through organic movement. Through this process, we connect deeply to the elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and ether as they flow within our bodies and re-tune our sense of balance and equilibrium.
- Earth, our connection to our root and core of our being. We plant our feet firmly on the ground and release the energies that pull us away from this sensibility.
- Water, our creative flow and nurturing connection with our ability to manifest. We let the fluids of our body move under our skin, washing away blockages that keep us from our divine right to abundance.
- Fire, our impulses, power, and burning desire to hold and speak our truth. We tap into the nervous system and its fight or flight responses, as we allow the body’s electricity to be channeled and purified.
- Wind, our connection to compassion and love, the breath of life that enters through the window of the heart. We fill and empty our pores and lungs with life force, as we allow our sense of control and fear to be blown away.
- Ether, our interconnectedness with everything around us. We embody the merging of spirit and self and self and others. We come to peace in this body in the moment and we carry this awareness with us until the next practice.
After this fully embodied fine tuning, the workshop closes with a blissful guided meditation and a restorative pose.
When you take this out into the real world you will feel more grounded calm and centered, relate more fully to others, have healthier relationships, feel more creative, and clear the cobwebs of stress. Prior yoga experience is recommended, though the only requirement is an open mind
Intro to Yogic Philosophy for Wellbeing
Around the turn of the 5th century, Patanjali wrote down a collection of systematic musings about why it is hard to be human and how we can make life a little more easeful through the practice of Yoga. He defined yoga as an eight-part practice, one of which is the poses we do on our yoga mats.
It’s easy to succumb to stress or worry, especially in our fast-paced digitized society. Studying the Yoga Sutras, on of the foundations of classic Yoga Philosophy, will help you reduce stress, increase focus, increase compassion and find peace in your daily life.
At the heart of these ancient texts lie some very simple principles that we all can understand and use. The Sutras answer the question, “What IS Yoga?” They are principles to put into practice while we’re at work or with our families, as well as in our daily practice.
Whether you are new to Yoga or looking to deepen your practice, this introduction to the Sutras will give you a strong foundation for a physical practice and tools to reduce stress, increase focus, interact with more compassion, and lead a more easeful life off the mat.
Yoga for Stress Reduction
Life happens, and it isn’t always easy. Most of us get stuck in patterns of breathing and moving that feed our underlying stress levels, past injuries, and traumas. Yoga says: we don’t have to escape our life routines in order to reduce stress. We can turn down our stress levels simply by working backwards through the breath and the body. Yoga empowers us with the gifts and tools to heal stress and reduce anxiety right here and right now.
This workshop begins with some fundamental poses to get the body moving and turn our attention inward. From there, we will use exercises taken from the Kundalini lineage of yoga to deliver you into a greater state of awareness. These exercises, called Kriyas, will focus on breath work, meditation, and chanting, and are said to generate and organize energy. On a practical level, you will feel how these awareness exercises reduce stress in real time- you’ll leave feeling grounded, relaxed, and spacious.
Go home with a toolbox of techniques to find a bit of that relaxation, wherever you are. Participants will be given a handout of the specific breathing exercises used in class, as well as a digital copy of Nicole’s guided meditation album. No past yoga experience required.
Intro to Somatics & Anatomy Energetics
When the body and mind are in their optimal alignment, the energies within us transform. When we allow ourselves this transformative dance of clarity, awareness, and compassion on the mat with regular practice, our bodies become the most effective and perceptive teacher in the yoga room.
After years of struggling with chronic illness, injury, anxiety, and depression, Nicole found complete relief through yoga and the study of how alignment of the body and mind effects us every day. This workshop is the marriage of Nicole’s twelve year study of Kundalini Yoga and alignment-centered hatha yoga. It will take you into deeper experience of the somatic messages of your life. For 2 hours, we will tune into our BodyMindSelf to feel, notice, sense, and observe as we “dance” through our yoga practice.
In the calming of the internal voices that urge us towards some outwardly “perfect” form,, the compassion of ourselves in transition, the slowing down of our awareness in moments of intensity, and the courage to practice with an open heart and mind time and time again, our soul will begin to find its own plane of “perfect” alignment, and real transformation can occur.
